2014 Underclassmen Showcase Camp

2014 Underclassmen Showcase Camp

The Underclassmen Showcase Camp is the ONLY full-contact, 3-day camp offering a great opportunity for young football players to showcase their talents, compete with the top 200 players in the Western U.S. and learn from former professional players, college coaches and elite high school coaches. The platform will allow them to gain national exposure to college coaches for upcoming years when they will be eligible to receive football scholarship offers from four-year schools and universities.

This camp will teach players to practice in the same manner as players at four-year institutions. Although this is a full-contact camp, participants will be made aware that brute force is not the main focus but emphasis on proper technique and using “thud” practice style will keep players on their feet and reduce injuries. The camp will be broken into a total of six practices with three in full pads and three in half shells. Trainers will be on hand for the safety of players and pre-practice preparation.

A crucial component to a complete football player is the development of his mental capacity for the game including chalk talk, classroom work and film study. This allows athletes and their coaches to more efficiently evaluate mistakes and successes. These activities directly correlate with better performance on the football field. Therefore, a significant amount of time will be dedicated to the athlete’s development and individual skill set.

Each participant will receive a pair of practice pants, a practice jersey with assigned number and a spirit pack. It is required for every camper to bring their own helmet, pads, cleats, gloves, ankle braces, etc. All meals and activities will be provided. Free admission will also be provided for the 2012 Cal State Game on Sunday, December 22.

In addition to the stellar on-field guidance, there will be a number of former professional athletes, businessmen and educators on hand to speak with and mentor these young athletes about the importance of education and what it takes to be a student athlete at the four-year level. The majority of athletes who have participated in our program have gained attention from four-year colleges and universities. Over 80 DI players played in the 2011 Cal State Games.

If the athlete is coming with family members the cost is $250 if they come individually the cost will be $400 dollars which covers hotel fee’s of $50 a day and all food. Families must be responsible for any travel and lodging expenses. Campers are encouraged to stay with family in the same room at our host hotel at a discounted rate. Fees are due by November 9th. We are aware that this event is close to Christmastime and the economy has been tough but this opportunity is too great to pass up. Therefore, we have devised a raffle ticket fundraiser for participants who need help to raise the money for their own camp fees. Players can sell tickets for cash prizes and electronics totaling $3,000. The drawing will be held December 19th during the opening ceremonies of the Underclassmen Showcase Camp.

Sports media In attendance will include 247 Sports, Rivals, Fox Sports/Scout.com, Matchmakers, QT Sports and others to write coverage and provide rankings for athletes.

Congratulations on all your hard work and dedication!
