Teaching Through Touchdowns

Teaching Through Touchdowns

The Cal State Game was established in 2008 as a mentor program for California’s young youth football players. Director Derek Burrell stated that he prides himself in providing an event that is filled with positive influences for California’s Youth. “College recruiting is starting to weigh heavily on character versus just a players athleticism”, said Burrell.  “We as mentors have to make sure that we are planting positive seeds in kids so that they can learn to be productive student athletes.”

The Cal State Game has had guest speakers such as former NFL and current College Coach Kerry Locklin, Hall of Famer Jackie Slater and Christian Entertainers Bizzle and P-Dubb.  People will not be disappointed this year as Burrell has another star studded line up with NFL Greats Irv Panky and James Saunders scheduled to speak.

The Cal State Game will be held December 21st at the Mineral King Bowl in Visalia California. The event will showcase California’s top youth football players from 5th grade to 8th grade. You can follow The Cal State Game on Facebook or Twitter (@calstategame) for up to date information.
